A day in the life of the SHARP administrator
Hi, My name is Yasin Koya. I am the Administrator at SHARP !I bring a can-do attitude to the role, even on days when things feel a little stressful or chaotic. I’m often the first point of contact — answering calls, welcoming client drop-ins, and dealing with all sorts of enquiries. Not every call is a housing issue, and sometimes they’re about something completely unexpected, but I’m always happy to listen and help where I can (or point people in the right direction).
When clients contact us, they are often facing serious housing concerns. My role is to make sure they feel heard, respected, and valued, while also being mindful and considerate of any additional needs or vulnerabilities they may have.
My day is a mix of admin and people skills such as completing enquiries, responding to emails, managing paperwork, assisting clients with housing applications, and processing the generous donations we receive from organisations. Behind the scenes, I help ensure the operation keeps running smoothly — even when the phone seems to have a life of its own. I handle enquiries that don’t always come with simple answers with patience, adaptability, and a calm approach.
I support the wider team behind the scenes, help keep projects like the Private Rent Workshop running smoothly, and act as a steady point of contact when things ramp up (which they often do). If something needs chasing, explaining, or calmly handled, it usually finds its way to my desk — and if it needs a second opinion, I’ll always check in with the Project Lead to make sure it’s done right.
No matter how busy the office gets — even on those call-after-call days — I’m always committed to offering the right help and support to our clients!
