Every year, SHARP advises around 1000 households who have a range of housing problems, including: homelessness, rent or mortgage arrears, housing benefit, relationship breakdown, domestic violence, harassment, disrepair and unsuitable housing.

This provides practical help and regular home visits to vulnerable people referred by the Probation Service. The scheme helps people set up home (providing furniture where needed) and supports them in learning to live independently, offer advice and assistance in dealing with with any benefit issues (including housing benefit claims, landlords, etc).
The Service is for anyone who is 18 plus, single, single parents and families

In 2009/10 SHARP undertook “action research” into the problems faced by short term prisoners in maintaining tenancies. This work will be carried out using cases of people from Leicester City who are currently in custody in Welford Road, Glen Parva and Peterborough Prisons.
