SHARP - the Shelter Housing Aid and Research Project - was established in 1974 by Leicester Shelter Group. We are the only independent Housing Aid Centre that covers all of Leicestershire and Rutland. Over 36 years, we have provided much-needed advice, help and support for thousands of people who have been homeless or facing serious housing problems in the city of Leicester and the counties. Last year, we assisted over 1300 single people and families
How we can help with housing problems
Our trained legal advisers offer specialist advice to our clients. We can help you to make your case by writing letters or legal submissions on your behalf and can represent you at court in some circumstances.
We can advise you on:
- Mortgage repossessions
- Problems with your landlord
- Housing options
We also have a team of trained volunteers who can provide practical assistance to people who may need help of a non-legal nature, such as:
- Debt advice
- Welfare benefits advice
- Other housing issues of a practical nature
We take confidentiality seriously.
We will not discuss your case with anyone without your permission unless we have a legal obligation to do so. Your case may however be discussed with other members of staff in order to ensure that you get the best possible service from us.
